Flow-optimized impeller
Hygiene and wet wipes, combined with a declining water ratio, are increasingly altering the composition of wastewater. This poses a major challenge for wastewater pumps and pumping stations: fibrous and solid materials can accumulate around the impeller, leading to massive clogging and ragging. The consequences are more frequent cleaning and maintenance work, pump failures, and rising operational costs.
Our new pump impeller for the PKR & TPKR!
To targetedly reduce the susceptibility to ragging in single-channel impeller pumps, the Institute for Energy and Environmental Process Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen conducted a fluid mechanics study on behalf of Pleiger Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG.
Based on this research work, a flow-optimized impeller geometry for wastewater pumps was developed. The optimized geometry improves flow conditions in the intake area of the impeller, thereby reducing susceptibility to clogging and ragging.
The result: higher operational reliability for the wastewater pump alongside reduced cleaning and maintenance effort.

Sustainable reduction of operating costs for wastewater pumps
By reducing ragging and clogging, maintenance-related downtimes and time-consuming cleaning work can be reduced. At the same time, precise design tailored to the respective operating point enables efficient pump operation with high efficiency.
This makes the flow-optimized impeller particularly suitable for sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, and other applications in wastewater technology where high operational reliability and low life-cycle costs are crucial.
Flow-optimized impeller also available for retrofitting
The new impeller geometry was designed from the beginning so that not only new pump installations benefit from it. Cost-effective retrofitting is also possible for existing PKR and TPKR pumps.
Operators of existing pumping stations can thus optimize their wastewater pumps without having to replace the entire pump system.
